Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ #1: What is an OrdSmed, anyhow? And, why do you have this question here?

The Danish word "Ord" is translated into English as "Word", and "Smed" into "Smith" (as in blacksmith). Put them together to form:

wordsmith, n. (1) A fluent and prolific writer, especially one who writes professionally. (2) An expert on words.(The American Heritage (r) Concise Dictionary of the English Language, Third Edition. Copyright ©1992 Houghton Mifflin Company.)

As far as I can determine, the expression "wordsmith" did not exist in Danish as "ordsmed" until I began using the word for my Internet based company, operated as "The OrdSmed".

The OrdSmed offered proofreading, editing and rewriting of English language documents. It was just barely successful and not worth the trouble for the amount of money earned. (And, the way it complicated my tax filing cost MORE in frustration than I was willing to put out each year.) So, as of 1998, The OrdSmed is closed for business--until further notice.

However, if you REALLY need some work done, contact me for a quote (it will NOT be inexpensive).
