FAQ #4: Is your name really Denver?

I've had people ask me that question a thousand times, at least. (Often the question is followed by: Or is that a nickname?)

Since it is true, I answer that Denver is my real name. It is on my birth certificate. (If the nickname part of the question had been asked I go on to explain that it is not nickname, and I don't have a nickname...with a name like Denver no nickname is needed.)

That answer almost always elicits another question: Why is your name Denver?

(Which is often followed by a string of potential answers in the form of other questions, like: You live in Denver? You were born in Denver? Your parents loved Denver? You were conceived in Denver? And, from those too young to have a grasp on just how long football has been on TV every Monday night: Because your dad is a Bronco's fan?)
