Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ #:9 So, when are you gonna learn Danish? (You damn foreigner!)

Jeg lærer meget lidt dansk til ny. Jeg går på en skole i Horsens . . . and I learn slowly. Very slowly.

My Jan-Jun 98 class had three from Iraq, two from Iran, one each from Sri Lanka, Poland, Russia, Guyana and one other from the USA. Let me tell you right now, you have not lived until you have listened to all those folks recite the Danish alphabet . . . in ten different ways. And then it my turn to add the eleventh!

We spent a lot of time laughing at (or rather, with) each other.

My Aug-Dec 98 class consists of three from Bosnia, two each from Iraq, USA and Russia, and one each from Australia, China, Hungary, India, Sri Lanka and Vietnam. That makes for a lot of different cultures packed tightly in one place. Thankfully we are all trying to do the same thing (learn Danish).

Wanna hear what the letters of the alphabet sound like? Just pick one and click. Hint: Pick one of the red, highlighted or underlined letters (depending on your Web browser) to hear some of the differences between dansk and English.

You can link to the school's home page. Or you check out my teacher's (Vera) page. Or you can meet my classmates. Or see some photos from our August 98 trip to the tiny island of Hjarnø (about 15 minutes from where I live)

If you wish, you may look at the project on Sport Fishing in Denmark that Daniel (from Iraq) and I did. Hint: It has drawings of fish that can be caught in and around Denmark.

Also here is the AMU Center project and the meal project.
