And check into the centrally located Hotel Morgan. Then we check out the view from our room.

Jacob, my Armenian-Lebanese friend who has lived in Denmark 18 years, is caught by surprise in the act of instructing on the finer points of photography. He took the good photos here (I took the bad ones) and was the tour's planner, director and security chief. (Next time I go back I want my own 12 round 9mm.)
|

So, the first morning (as we walk into a bakery for breakfast) I get my first shock--there are some really nice places in town. That is, the entire town is NOT all war torn, dirty, poor and frightening. |

Jacob orders his favorite breakfast for me. |

I wanted the sweets. |

But he was right--this breakfast is GREAT. (I'm trying to figure out which button to push and he is thinking: "Is this American smart enough to operate a camera, or WHAT?")

Armenian Pizza and "salad to die for". |

Jacob made me stop eating so he could have this picture.

Cousin Ara's sister Cousin Nazo (yes, two Nazo's in the family), out in front of where she works (a nice ladies dress and accessories shop).
|

Oh man that was a great place to eat. |

I liked it so much i gave in and let Jacob have what he wanted--a kiss from me. |

With water pipe. |

She let me try it and it was pretty good...much better than I had expected. |

Dessert is included in the price of the meal. (We were all stuffed and the bill was about $60.)
|

Now, this desert table MUST be good for you! |

Jacob, Ara and his girl friend Maral visit an Armenian grave yard on Mother's Day.
|

You can hear the birds singing. |

This was Jacob's first visit to his mom's grave since her death eight years earlier.
|

He found it impossible to believe that no one was maintaining the site. |

The stone marker is actually on the next row over. |

Jacob lights candles in memory of his mom. The metal marker for this grave has no inscription. |

Sadly, it looked like a grave with no living relatives. |

This is the marker Jacob purchased for the grave site. As well, he contracted for a local gardener's care.
